Soozi Danson's Midcentury, Orla Kiely Inspired Home

Soozi Danson's Midcentury, Orla Kiely Inspired Home

Tonight's Home Tour is with Soozi Danson, who lives in South Manchester, in a home filled with pattern, colour and mid-century vibes. Soozi is a big fan of Orla Kiely and you will see many of her prints dotted around her home.

Soozi was the recent national winner (2018) of "Anglian Styled by Me", a national competition run by Anglian Homeand Sophie Robinson , wowing Sophie with her gallery wall filled with colour.

Read on to hear all about Soozi and her home.

My name is Soozi. I live in South Manchester, in our early 1900's semi-detached home, with my husband and our two dogs Mini & Elvis. We have two grown-up children, our daughter Ella-Maria, who usually resides in London, but is currently back in the nest and our son, Zac who has recently graduated and is now living & working in Leeds.

We bought our home around 12 years ago on a total whim when we decided to "view a few houses" on a day off work! We fell in love with it the moment we walked through the front door & 6 weeks later it was ours!

Fast forward 12 years, a full renovation, re-wire, re-plum, re-configure & re-plaster and here we are today, still throwing all our money at it with several rooms yet to complete.

Over the years our home has evolved and so has my taste. It has become apparent to those who visit and my followers on Instagram that pattern and colour play a huge part in my interior style.  I love to mix old with new and have a penchant for colour blocking: Be it shelfie styling, bookcase editing or wardrobe organising.

I am a keen collector of mid-century modern pieces and absolutely LOVE a bargain!

One of my most prized possessions is my original String shelving system. I bought it from a neighbour who had, had it in her home since the late 1960s. She was so happy that she'd found someone to love it as much as she had and it was going to be just a few doors away.

I am a sucker for a gallery wall and have one in some form or another in pretty much every room, I have an eclectic mix of art and like to add in plates, plants and the odd trophy head, to give texture and form to my ever-changing displays.

My design hero is most definitely the incredibly talented Orla Kiely. Her designs feature prominently in my interiors.

Even my wardrobe has been infiltrated with a few of her colourful pieces!

I started posting pictures around 2 years ago on Instagram and have fallen in love with the positive vibes of the interiors community. I have met some incredible people and doors are being opened as we speak, that I never imagined possible. My blog "life at the patterned palace" is in its infant stages, but I hope to be posting more regularly over the coming months. With lots of exciting room re-vamps in the pipeline that I can't wait to share!

I'm looking forward to what the future may bring, with new opportunities, new people and of course plenty more clashing patterns.
