Abigail Ahern Launches New Wayfair Collaboration
Tuesday 10th October saw the launch of a fabulous new collaboration between Wayfair UK and Abigail Ahern and I have been given the opportunity to style some of the new products in my home, which we will come onto in a moment, along with the inspiration for my living room.
But first more about the designer and the collection, which you can shop here.
About Abigail Ahern
Designer, style maven and author Abigail Ahern is recognised amongst design aficionados and devotees alike for her enchanting take on interiors. Renowned for her unexpected style where she juxtaposes sophistication with swank, spontaneity with rigor and refinement with rebellion, her trend-setting designs are synonymous eclecticism and wit. Set against her trademark inky palette, Abigail has redefined the visual landscape with cleverly mixed collections which are comforting, inviting and imbued with personality.
About the Wayfair UK Collection
Designer Abigail Ahern has been hailed as one of the most trend-setting names in interiors – a style disruptor with a fearless approach to home design. In her collaboration with Wayfair, Abigail’s signature moody palette is given an earthy twist, with slick urban furniture meeting raw and rustic elements, eclectic accents and statement lighting, for a look that’s packed full of character yet surprisingly affordable. Naturally this sits well with the Wayfair Brand which is all about affordable finds for the home, a great variety ranging from budget basics to high-end finds and free shipping so you can get your items without any extra cost.
“I was inspired by the colours of the outback for this collection. Think dark and moody midnight tones with livening accents of burnt sienna and yellow ochre. Texture, pattern and lush botanicals are also key, as they give the space instant pizazz.
Above all else it’s about comfort, with pieces that tell a narrative, have an atmosphere and encourage you to linger longer.” Abigail Ahern

How I interpret the Abigail Ahern Look?
For those of you who THE WONDERFUL DESIGN, it is no secret that I have been a follower of Abigail Ahern for quite a number of years now, dipping into her style and making it my own, and so when I was given the opportunity to style some Wayfair products to correspond to the Abigail Ahern Product Launch I was beyond excited to do so. You can read about my "Abigail Ahern Inspired Living Room" on Apartment Therapy here
My living room is painted in a dark and moody grey, dark walls being a signature of the Abigail Ahern style and Madison Grey being the nearest colour from her paint collection. I am going to walk you through, how I've created my "Abigail Ahern style" incorporating some of the new Wayfair collection into it.
I naturally subscribe to Abigail's view on colour; dark sludgy, bottom of the lake colours, which add a real cosiness to a room. Texture is also really important and I like utilising it on as many surfaces as possible, rugs on the floor, cushions, throws, sheepskins, textured wallpaper. In the shot below you can see wood effect wallpaper adding texture to my chimney breast and a sheepskin draped over a rustic bench. Faux flowers and plants add interest to the space. My sofa, is green velvet a pop of colour in this otherwise fairly neutral room, once again paired with heaps of cushions, throws, sheepskins. Art is important too and given the dark side to the rooms, lighting; I follow the "more is more" concept when it comes to lamps and lighting.
The mood board below shows the concept behind my living room and the products I have chosen to add. Naturally, I already have several of Abigail's products in my home, including her signature botanicals which you can see below, but some of which are also part of the new collection. I also have an Abigail Ahern Floor lamp from her own collection which I coveted for months before snapping it up in the Black Friday sale of last year.
Since I am not starting this room from scratch naturally my Green Sofa, plays a role in this scheme (as you would expect given that's what I am known for) and I already have a Berber Rug on the floor, though this mood board shows a good alternative; the Madison Beige Area Rug from the Abigail Ahern Wayfair collection. I chose three new products that would complement my scheme; the decorative round planter pot, which I plan on filling with faux foliage, the Aviator Leather Armchair and a handwoven throw in green.
Here you can see I've chosen to style the Aviator Leather Chair with the Handwoven Green throw, nestled in my bay window. This chair is an ideal size for a smaller spot in the corner of a room or perhaps even at the dining room table, as you can see in the shot below. The dark brown leather compliments the more vibrant green velvet while the throw carries the accent colour across. In the corner, you can see a faux cactus from Abigail's own collection and you can also see one on the vintage table I have in front of the chair, along with a mid-century vase. The standing lamp is from Abigail Ahern's own collection, but a great alternative would be the Fascino Tripod lamp from the new Wayfair collection.
Rather than style this chair with a cushion, I have left it without as I like the simplicity of the leather and metal showing (although you could style it with a cushion if you wanted to, see photo below). On the table in the window is the round planter pot from the new collection, which has an amazing rustic, industrial feel, as well as being a sizeable vessel in which to add flowers, or in my case a huge bunch of faux foliage. My little hound dog candle adds a quirky playful touch, which is also something Abigail is well known for.
The round planter also looks equally striking on the floor, here in front of my chair. But, would also sit well in a fireplace or on a mantlepiece, as seen below.
Planter detail, seen in this close up shot, styled with vintage shoe lasts on a vintage green table. The colour of the planter is striking against a dark wall.
Now, while I could happily take every single item of this new collection for my home, if I were decorating from scratch, I have styled a mood board with some of my favourites, that would fit in with what I already have in my living room.
Items from the new collectioninclude: Downtown Display Cabinet, Do's Handle Basket Set, Nashville 6 Light Mini Chandelier; Abrahamic Vintage Wall Accent Mirror; Kane Coffee Table, Dax coffee table, Karo Girl Framed, Black and White Mood in the Forest Framed.
So, there you go, a fantastic new collection for Wayfair Uk by Abigail Ahern and how I have incorporated some of the items into my living room, already styled based on Abigail's interiors as inspiration.
